There are some songs that just seem to call out for a good dance. Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like,” off his country album of the same name, is one such track. Its catchy tune, coupled with a well-matched dance, has made it all the way to the top of the country charts.
The “Fancy Like” dance originally got its start on TikTok, where a video created by American dancer Nazz Sldy went viral and helped the dance quickly gain traction. Soon, others were posting videos of themselves doing the dance and it became a massive hit.
But it was a video posted on June 13th that really put the “Fancy Like” dance over the edge. That video featured country singer Walker Hayes and his 15-year-old daughter Lela dancing to the song on their front porch. The video racked up over 20 million views, which is no small feat for a country artist.
Its popularity prompted Applebee’s to use it in a commercial that started airing on television and online. And it even prompted the chain to bring back some of its menu items, including its Oreo Shake, which Hayes shouted out in his song.
It also brought in more fans for the song, which already had a strong following thanks to its summery lyrics and relatable message. And with the help of a few good TikTok dance videos, it’s set to spend another week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart.
