Hip hop dance is a style of street dancing that incorporates elements of various dance styles to the sound of hip hop music. This style has evolved as a part of hip hop culture and is influenced by a variety of styles that first gained popularity in the 1970s. The dance style was first made popular by dance crews throughout the United States.

It originated in the Bronx and was a form of artistic expression for urban youth. Today, it is considered one of four original elements of hip hop culture. Breaking focuses more on ground moves and acrobatic movements, while other styles emphasize standing moves. Breakers have even developed their own competition called Red Bull BC One, where they showcase their skills. Breakers also borrow from other styles of dance.

Hip hop dance was popularized during the 1990s, with artists such as MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice performing hip hop dances. Michael Jackson also used hip hop dance in his 1992 music video “Remember The Time.” The choreography was by Fatima Robinson, a street dancer without formal dance training. This was Robinson’s first music video job.

Hip hop dancing is a great form of aerobic exercise. It gets the heart pumping and builds a positive frame of mind. It is also fun and sociable. In addition, it helps build stamina and muscular resistance.
