Dances tips and tricks
One of the most challenging parts about dancing is learning new combinations. This is especially true if you’re just starting out, but it doesn’t have to be that way! There are many ways to improve your memory and learn the choreography quicker.
Practicing regularly is key! Set a training schedule for yourself and stick to it. It can be a few training sessions a week, or even daily training if you’re serious about your progress.
Conditioning is essential for dancers, so be sure to incorporate strength training into your routine. Doing push-ups, squats and crunches can help you strengthen the muscles in your hips, shoulders, legs and back.
Listen and synchronize – It’s a common mistake to try to learn new movements or combinations when you’re out of sync with the music. Practice in a tempo that you can execute the combination with and make sure you’re always in tune.
Watch and learn – Take time to watch professional dancers perform new combinations and see how they synchronize their moves. This will give you ideas for your own dances.
Challenge yourself to stay out of your comfort zone and try new dance styles & music or even a prop. This will also help you discover your strengths and weaknesses as a dancer.
When performing, always remember to bow to the audience after your dance and thank them for watching and applauding you. This will help you feel more confident as you move on stage and will give you a better performance.
