A dance routine set to country singer Walker Hayes’ hit song “Fancy Like” has gone viral on TikTok. After 15-year-old daughter Lela filmed her father busting moves to the song on their front porch, copycat videos flooded social media. Now, the dad-and-daughter dance is so popular that it’s even been recreated by a former contestant on The Voice. RaeLynn, who is nine months pregnant with her first child, showed off her moves on Late Night With Seth Meyers. She’s definitely got the dance down.
It takes a lot of rhythm and talent to learn the fancy like dance, but one TikTok user took it to the next level. Steph Hetherington mastered the dance while wakesurfing. It was so impressive, the video reached nearly five million likes and more than 4 million views within just four days.
The clip quickly caught the attention of Hayes himself, who gave the dance his seal of approval. He also wished the pair could dance together.
Despite initially struggling to gain traction on country radio, “Fancy Like” has become a true smash hit with millions of people dancing to it on the app. The song has topped every country streaming and sales chart and spent eight weeks in the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. It’s even reached Number One in Apple Music’s all-genre chart.
Aside from its commercial success, “Fancy Like” has sparked many uplifting stories and messages. One such story comes from Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Mobile, Alabama. Animal management director Bryan Martin (aka @sealionbryan) noticed the trend, so he decided to take it to a whole new level. He taught a sealion named Ada to do the dance and posted it to his TikTok.
