If you spent any time on TikTok in 2021, chances are you’ve seen the song “Fancy Like” at least once or heard it referenced. It’s the country hit that went viral thanks to a dance routine created by Walker Hayes and his daughter and has since become a meme. The dance has been recreated thousands of times and even caught the attention of Applebee’s, who featured it in an ad campaign. Now, the father-daughter duo are back to make another video, this time with a big milestone in mind.
They’ve been having a blast recreating their OG video in celebration of the fact that the clip has reached 737 million views. This is a pretty huge accomplishment for the “Fancy Like” singer and his daughter, who are clearly having fun with their routine. It’s also a great way to promote the latest installment of his wildly popular EP Country Stuff, which dropped last week.
HOUSTON – Country star Walker Hayes has been making music for over a decade, but his career really took off after the super catchy tune and dance to his hit song Fancy Like went viral on TikTok. The dance landed him on late night tv, a major endorsement deal with Applebee’s and thousands of new fans. It’s also helped the song top every sales and streaming chart and spend six months and counting at the number one spot on Billboard’s Country Songs chart.
He credits the success to his daughter Lela, who inspired him to learn how to do the dance and then record it with him. He also gives credit to the writers behind the track — Cameron Bartolini, Josh Jenkins and Shane Stevens who penned the twang-filled tribute to the three course menu item he equates to fine dining for date nights.
