When country star Walker Hayes released his new song “Fancy Like” in June, he probably never imagined it would become one of the biggest summer hits thanks to TikTok. But that’s exactly what happened, as his cute dance video with his teen daughter went viral on the platform and spawned copycat videos with millions of views each. And as a result, the song rocketed to No. 1 on Apple Music’s all-genre chart.
Hayes teamed up with his daughter Lela to create the dance routine to go with the catchy track, which praises the fancy things in life — like eating at Applebee’s for dinner on a date night — and became an instant hit. The video quickly racked up more than a million views, which surprised the father-daughter duo since they just threw the dance together in the span of 35 minutes and had it filmed by Hayes’ wife Laney.
The pair also filmed a follow-up version with more family members and friends, which got even more views, and Hayes recently took the show on the road as he and Lela performed their Fancy Like dance at a Waffle House in Nashville. Even Hoda Kotb joined in, showing off her own slick moves and earning the approval of her littlest fans!
But it’s not just the kids who are getting into the action – country singer RaeLynn, who’s nine months pregnant with her first child, was even hoping to naturally induce labor by dancing to “Fancy Like” on a recent episode of The Voice. Watch her impressive dance moves in the clip below, and check out the original version of Walker’s video with his daughter here!
