pop dance

A style of dance based on quick contractions and relaxing of the body’s muscles to create a jerking movement known as popping. Generally, it is performed to music with a fast beat such as pop, hip hop or electro. This type of dance is also known as Locking and originated in Fresno California in the late 1970’s. Sam Solomon created this new style of dancing and named his crew the Electric Boogaloo Lockers. Popping is not a style of dance that will disappear anytime soon because it has proven itself to be one of the most versatile and creative illusionary dance styles available.

It is often seen in contemporary urban dance performances and has gained popularity among pop singers, such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Pink. It is also incorporated into dance moves and styles that are influenced by hip hop and R&B. This style of dance is highly energetic and can incorporate a lot of arm movements to create a dynamic and unique appearance to the dance.

It has been found that the spectators of pop dance experience a kinesthetic connection to the movements of the dancer, experiencing something similar in their own body. This is because the dancers create a unique rhythm and pattern that transcends the regular beat of the song and into the body of the spectator. This is a great example of the power of dance to change the perceptions of the spectators and influence their feelings and emotions as well as make them feel more alive.
